The sri Satya Sai Institute of Science & Technology Library System consists of a Central Library and 04 departmental libraries.

They collectively support the teaching, research and extension programmes of the Institute. All students, faculty and employees of the Institute are entitled to make use of the Library facilities. The Alumni of the Institute are also entitled to borrow books provided they are members of the Institute’s Alumni Association. Similarly, industrial establishments can avail the library services on taking corporate membership of the Library. Library consultation facilities are extended to faculty, students of outside organizations and the wards of S.S.S.I.S.T faculty and staff on their request. Retired teaching and non-teaching staff members can also avail borrowing facility. The Library has 1606 egistered users.

LIBRARY HOURS

The Library remains open throughout the year except six days, namely, Republic Day, Independence Day, Dussehra, Diwali, Holi, Mahatma Gandhi’s Birthday and any other holiday declared as a special holiday. It remains open from 9.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. in all Working days

LIBRARY RESOURCES

Collection

The Central Library, S.S.S.I.S.T  has a strong collection consisting of documents comprising of books, standards, specifications, theses, CD-ROM databases, bound volumes of journals and video cassettes pertaining to physical sciences, engineering and technology, computer and information technology, social sciences and management. The Library has an active collection over 15,700 books under Text Book and Book Bank schemes to support undergraduate studies. The reference collection in the Library is maintained separately and is categorized into atlases, bibliographies, handbooks, directories, dictionaries, encyclopedias and technical data. The library provides access to online electronic journals and CD ROM databases and caters to the demand based procurement of specialized documents such as patents, standards and specifications.

VIDEO LIBRARY

The Library is equipped with video viewing facility consisting of four VCPs and video display units. It has a collection of more hundred video cassettes.

Print Journals and Access to Electronic Journals

The Library subscribes to more than 56 current journal in print form with back volumes of journals. The Library has continued its efforts to provide access to several new web based full text electronic journals.

LIBRARY SERVICES & FACILITIES

Reader’s Assistance

The Library provides assistance to its users ranging from location of a book to finding specific information required by a user. A suggestion book is maintained with Incharge, Reader’s Services where the users of the library can suggest measures for improvements in the facilities and services of the Library.

Borrowing Facilities

The library members, according to their borrowing category, can borrow stipulated number of books at a time .

Xeroxing Facility

The Library provides Xeroxing facility within the premises of the Library through an external vendor on payment basis.

Book Bank Facilities

The Book Bank holds multiple copies of selected textbooks for making them available to the students for the entire duration of a semester against payment of 10% of total cost of book .

Text Books Facilities

The textbook collection in the Library consists of books prescribed in the courses of study and those recommended by the Institute faculty. The textbooks are either issued for overnight or are

available only for reference. Students can borrow two books at a time from text book section between 2 to 6 p.m.
